This is a one-semester course for 8th graders. It is an interactive introductory course for students brand new to programming that teaches the foundations of computer science (focusing on basic programming) using Python.
Unit Titles:
Beginning in Computer Science
Number Calculations and Data
Making Decisions
Repetition with Loops
Graphics
This course uses a different classroom environment called Edhesive. Treat this environment like you normally treat Google Classroom--where you’ll complete all assignments and receive grades. This could be an online course, but you have me acting like an on-site teacher.
You will have to learn to monitor your time and keep up with your work because you’re given multiple assignments at a time. Having said that, I have created a general "Pacing Guide" to help you pace yourself throughout the course. We may make minor changes, but overall it's a good guide.
Each lesson builds on the previous lesson (or multiple lessons). Though there are different units, they all go together so if you don't understand Unit 1, you cannot jump to Unit 2. You must go in order (top-down) and complete all assignments in order to continue with the course.
I reserve the right to alter the course as I see fit--if this happens, I’ll likely post the adjusted assignment on a Google Classroom.
